I had an opportunity to try out Eight ½ Restaurant Lounge awhile back as they were having a 20% off brunch promotion if you post a photo of your meal on social media for that particular day. Their brunch specials run from 11am to 3pm on weekends.
The restaurant is located on Main Street and 26th Avenue which is conveniently easy to get to.
Bella Coola Benedict ($9.50)
Out of the 4 eggs Benedict on the menu, I highly recommend this one the most. The smoked salmon tasted just as fresh as it looked, but the English muffin could have been toasted longer. Instead of the typical hollandaise sauce, this one featured dill cream cheese. It was very unique and the cream cheese itself was not very heavy at all. It also came with baked parmesan and basil hash browns, which everyone thought could have been more crispy.
Cat in the Hat Benedict ($9.50)
The ham was slightly on the saltier side. The English muffin and hash brown also had a similar issue. The eggs on both were poached beautifully which definitely makes you want to poke at them to see the nice subtle runniness.
8 ½ Breakfast ($7.50)
Tuna Sandwich ($11.50)
This filling sandwich is on the regular lunch menu. I took a bite out of this and it definitely left me wanting some more. Personally, I thought the Albacore tuna could have used a little bit more searing, but the taste and flavouring was generally there with the added hint of wasabi and sweet soy. This is a typical sandwich I would definitely want to learn how to make myself.
They have a pretty wide selection of brunch items on their menu that would make you want to try everything. It is not one of my best brunch places I have tried in Vancouver, but I still had a positive dining experience here with the exceptional service given to me.
