I first fell in love with Baoguette Vietnamese Bistro when I tried their English Bay location on Denman Street. I was happy to hear that they opened another location in Kerrisdale which is a lot closer to home for me! I went to this new location twice since it opened and I had mixed opinions about it.
Bun Bo Hue ($9.95)
As you can tell from the photo, the soup base is pitched red. There was a strong kick to it and I was sweating profusely while eating. I opted to have this with the pho noodles which were undercooked in my opinion. They did give a generous amount of meat, but was slightly overcooked.
Pho Tai – Rare Beef and Beef Balls ($9.50)
The soup base was oily and not very flavourful. This is definitely not one of the best pho you can order in the Lower Mainland.
House Special Rolls ($5.50 )
One of the most unique salad rolls I have eaten. This is essentially a crispy spring roll stuffed with vermicelli, cucumbers, and bean sprouts. It was crunchy and satisfying.
Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio – Grilled Pork with Spring Rolls ($10.00)
This dish was my least favourite out of all the ones I’ve tried. I thought the grilled pork needed more spices to elevate the flavour. It was definitely missing a component for me.
Vietnamese French Ice Coffee ($4.00)
It took them a while to bring me my drink. To say the very least, it was not cold enough although the coffee was plenty strong.
Would I come I come back? It is hard to say. The first time I came to this restaurant, I thought the food and service was great. The second time around when I revisited, I found inconsistency in their food and service was extremely slow.

The service is very rude… Too bad !!
